Before Cake smashing outfit
they can do nude in the tub unless you have a super cute swimsuit!
Tips for a smooth cake smash photo shoot:
Keep clothing simple, solid colors photograph best
Bring a sippy cup/bottle they will get thirsty
Does your child have a favorite blanket or stuffed animal? - Bring it!
Plan the photo shoot around your child's schedule: Are they more interested in the morning, afternoon, evening? When do they generally eat the most? (Some children need 11 am shoots because it is before lunch so they are getting hungry, but they are not yet tired or near nap time. )
Arrive dressed in the before cake outfit.
Bring their cake/food smashing outfit.
Bring a change of clothes to go home in.
Because I am a stranger to your baby, it is best for you to actively help maintain your child's attention and standing near me/camera or we will not get many shots of baby looking at the camera.
When to schedule a shoot?
- A month before their birthday is best. This gives you time to tell me what you want and for me to arrange the best set up for your littles' big day. This also gives you time to plan and budget for what you want from this session. Many of my clients use these images as the invitation to the actual birthday party. If this is not what you need then you can schedule anytime you feel they will be most interested.
What time frame should you schedule your shoot?
- Depends on your baby. Personally I would set the time for after their major nap and a very small small snack to hold them over until you arrive in studio. We start with before cake images in a nice outfit, then the cake scene when they are tired of sitting still. Then when the cake looses their interest we move to the tub or clean up scene.
- My studio offers two locations: one being the studio and/or in a local outdoor area to the studio. If it is to hot or cold for outdoors or mom to be doesn't want to shoot outside that is okay too.
- My images are professionally retouched. You will have no bruises or breakouts in your final gallery.
The day of your session...
-Arrive in loose fitting clothing that is easy to remove like button ups. Do not wear socks as they leave impressions in the skin.
If you do a cake smash we gift you a gift voucher to shoot a family session.
